With Chefs for Kids and the rest of the Jurowicka 21 crowd we helped set up and staff a tent at the annual Childrens Day festival. Apparently Polish and Ukrainian children alike simply can't get enough of face painting. Chefs for kids are normally an NGO focussing on children in need      

At Jurowiecka we met a lady, Iza, and she had decided to put together bags to give out for the Orthodox Easter. Mostly of practical things but also some overly sugary items. Ewa spent a lot of time helping fill the bags and hand them out. It was an interesting lesson in logistics and checking translations. Iza's organisation is for people with long-term mental problems

At Jurowiecka 21 we met a couple of guys that are driving supplies into Ukraine and bringing people from hospitals out to Poland. They mentioned that they were having problems with volume in their minivan and bringing people out was limited to just a couple of people. They were looking for a second hand bus to use but low on funds.As a test of how to raise donations we did a small fundraiser with the international Jukendo community. They raised the money for the bus in about 24 hrs. It took longer to get a paypal account set up for the bus. It took much longer! Trzy Zywioly are normally an NGO focussing on conservation      

Everyone has been so focussed on getting clothes and basics organised that we haven't thought much about how stressful things are for the Ukrainian refugees. There is a food truck festival in Bialystok so we had 1000 vouchers printed up for a free meal and handed them out at the aid centre. Little bit of fun. Simon's company "SQL Services Australia" donated the money for this which is good because we made quite a few mistakes and learned a bit, he can't yell at himself for doing it wrong.      

With the Russian invasion of Ukraine we have been feeling useless. Chefs for Kids is a local NGO that works with kids normally but has set up an aid centre in the middle of Bialystok. We have started volunteering there sorting clothes etc. Obviously no one has experience with this specific situation and so we are all learning as we go. We decided to start collecting the things we have learned and create this site. Chefs for kids are normally an NGO focussing on children in need
